What AI and automation can do for a small business.
Most of the value is in dull jobs: reading an enquiry and putting it in the CRM, sending the same reply for the hundredth time, building the weekly report. Some of these need AI to read or write; many just need two apps connected properly. We use the simplest thing that works.

AI agents and business automation: what they actually do.
Business automation connects the apps a company already uses so work moves between them without anyone copying it: a form becomes a CRM record, an invoice becomes a ledger entry, the weekly report builds itself. Tools such as n8n and Make handle most of this; custom code covers the rest.
An AI agent goes a step further. It is given a goal and a set of tools and works out the steps itself, for example reading an enquiry, checking stock and drafting a reply. An assistant built on your own documents (often called RAG) answers from those documents and shows its source instead of guessing.
The part most people skip is testing. A set of real examples, a log of every run and a person checking the important steps are what make an AI system safe to rely on.
